Swedish Massage

Swedish uses various strokes and pressure to increase oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes and increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and pliable, and also stimulates the skin and nervous system, soothing the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tighhtness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as in Swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The Lymphatic system, responsible for immune system regulation, and fluid and waste removal, is what rids the body of any toxins that may cause illness. When the lymphatic system slows down or becomes blocked, fluid begins to build up, causing the whole body to feel tired and heavy, and making us susceptible to catching sickness. By stimulating the lymph nodes through this special form of massage, it helps clear any blockages and gives the lymphatic system a boost to keep it running healthy and strong. This massage is good for individuals who frequently suffer from illnesses, a faulty immune system, sports injuries, depression and emotional problems, stress, and low energy. It has been shown to have positive effects on the skin, to produce energy, and to help with respiratory problems. The treatment also boosts the immune system, making it easier to fight off disease and create general feelings of vitality.

Prenatal Massage

Expectant moms experience unique physical and emotional changes that occur as a result of increased weight, shifting posture, and adjusting hormone levels. While this is a beautiful period of heightened expectation and joy, mothers-to-be also endure heightened physical discomfort that ranges from muscular tension and headaches to pressure on the knees. Prenatal massage offers a wide range of benefits, which includes: easing backaches, headaches, shoulder and neck aches that may be caused by muscle tension and shifts in posture to accommodate increasing weight; decreases pain in the pelvic/hip area; increases circulation; improves digestion; reduces fatigue; improves skin elasticity which can help reduce stretch marks; helps reduce swelling in such places as hands and lower legs; can alleviate the stress on weight-bearing joints; promotes relaxation and deep breathing; and helps stabilize hormone levels by lessening anxiety. *All expectant mothers should check with their doctor prior to getting a massage. If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, or are in the early stages of pregnancy, prenatal massage may not be recommended.

Reflexology

A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears and their referral areas, which correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body. Reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation, and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Reflexology is a relaxing, pleasurable massage that will rejuvenate tired feet and lift the spirits.

Myofascial Release Massage

Myofascial Release is a gentle, highly specialized stretching and massage technique used to treat patients with a variety of soft tissue problems. Fascia is a thin tissue that covers all of the organs of the body including the muscle and every fiber within each muscle. When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surround it become short and tight. This uneven stress can be transmitted through the fascia to other parts of the body, causing pain and a variety of other symptoms in areas you often wouldn’t excpect. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in injured fascia. Myofascial Release is highly effective in treating patients with the following diagnoses: back strain, chronic back pain, low back pain, thoracic back pain, Carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic cervical pain, complex pain complaints, dizziness, vertigo, fibromyalgia, fibrositis, headaches, plantar fasciitis, TMJ dysfunction, trigger points, and whiplash.

Massage for Scar Reduction

This specialized form of massage can be utilized on any scar which is completely healed. Massage on surface scar tissue will have several distinct benefits including: rebuilding the collagen in the skin, stimulates new tissue growth, reduce tightness and pain, increase healing and scar fading, increase tissue sensitivity, increase localized circulation and neurological function, and improve over-all scar appearance. *We do not do any form of massage to breast tissue or cesarean scars.

Ear Candling

For thousands of years, a form of hygiene known as Ear Candling, was used as a way of naturally cleansing the inside of the ears. Ear Candling is a natural, non-intrusive procedure that helps alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, allergies and vertigo, as well as reduce minor hearing loss due to excessive earwax build-up.

Hot Stone Massage

Heated, smooth stones are placed on key points along the body and used as implements along with oil to create various forms of pressure against the muscles. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, which allows the therapist to provide deeper pressure, while providing increased circulation and a relaxing of the nervous system. This form of massage is suited for people who get chilly easily or have cold feet, or those who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage than that of Deep Tissue.
